Update - 8th June 2013

posted 11 Jun 2013, 08:07 by Derek Pattenson
A beautiful day in Purbeck for the June working party, with plenty of Sygnets including a new starter today. Lots of jobs going on, including:
  • Patching the corroded sections of the main fan cowling with fibreglass; a bit experimental, but it should provide an effective solution to the holes in part of the cowling. As the fibreglass sets very quickly we were also able to rub down and Ferricon the whole of the back of the cowling as well.
  • Strip remaining sections of bonnet framing (the tricky inside and underneath bits!) and also the top casting of the radiator, and get all these into Ferricon
  • Cut holes in the rubber gaskets for the water tank inspection cover bolts, and also cut and fit the gasket for the water-filled exhaust jacket overflow assembly
  • Strip and Ferricon remaining faces / sections of the front and rear re-railing beams
  • Wire-brush underside of another replacement bonnet top section and Ferricon
Thanks to all the Sygnets and leaders who contributed to good progress on the day!
